Business Development Analyst – Corporate
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions
- Create pitch materials and oversee document production process for the Banking & Finance, Capital Markets and Structured Finance & Derivatives practices, including helping update and maintain frequently used collateral material (e.g. attorney biographies, practice and industry descriptions and experience lists, etc.)
- Draft legal directory submissions, including Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR 1000, etc. and with other attorney and practice award submissions
- Handles reporting deals to the various league tables and liaises with the Firm’s contacts at the various league table providers to ensure that we are credited timely and correctly.
- Acts as resource for the Department and lawyers on the varying criteria for each of the league tables.
- Works with public relations team and deal reporting analyst to ensure information about our rankings is posted appropriately on Weil.com and updates to deals are made in the deals database.
- Review and analyze client, market data, and industry research for pitch and other client meetings
- Identify cross-practice business development initiatives as needed
- Research and secure information from other major data compilers for marketing and business development, including wins tracking and CRM system.
- Contribute to the development of strategy and implementation of plans for the Corporate practices
- Liaise with other teams, including Deal Reporting, Events and Digital Content in the Business Development Department on various client-focused projects
- Other special projects as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in corporate law firm environment; knowledge of corporate practices (deal vocabulary and processes) is preferred
- Experience with Thomson, Bloomberg and merger market preferred
- Strong writing, editing, analytical and researching skills; ability to synthesize data and accurately capture it in a narrative.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and high pressure environment; must possess a very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and on weekends as required
- Self-motivated, with excellent time management, project management skills and sound judgment required
- Positive attitude and ability to coordinate efforts with others in department as a solid “team player”
- Excellent computer skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel are required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
