Compliance Coordinator
Job Description
Working with the Professional Responsibility Counsel and the Compliance Attorneys, the Compliance Coordinator will report directly to the Professional Responsibility Counsel, with overall oversight by the Chief Professional Responsibility Officer, and will assist with various Professional Responsibility Department processes and functions.
Responsibilities
- Firm-wide audit letter response process. Specific tasks include:
- Follow up with attorneys for needed information
- Communicate with auditors for missing request letter information
- Prepare first draft of response letters
- Recordkeeping in connection with audit letter responses
- Erecting and Maintaining Ethical Screens. Specific tasks include:
- Process requests for access to screened matters
- Create new screens and notifications using ethical screening application
- Implementing and Maintaining Legal Holds. Specific tasks include:
- Process requests for legal holds
- Create legal hold notifications
- Conflicts Clearance of Incoming Legal Personnel.
- Specific tasks include:
- Track incoming candidates and update tracking charts daily
- Correspond with incoming Legal Personnel for candidate information
- Correspond with summer associates and fall associates to obtain missing information
- Assemble questionnaires and related email correspondence
- Tracking and Management of Client Engagement Letters and Waiver Letters. Specific tasks include:
- Track engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines and waivers
- Respond to inquiries from administrative assistants regarding engagement letters
- Maintain lists of outstanding engagement letters and follow up as needed
- Respond to inquiries regarding existing engagement letters
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- 1-2 years of full-time work experience preferably in a law firm.
- Excellent research, written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Works well in a team/collaborative environment.
- Able to digest and distill information from various sources.
- Flexibility to assume other job responsibilities within the department as necessary.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands, provide high levels of customer service and maintain a professional demeanor under stress.
- Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other common business applications skills.
