Senior Network Communications Engineer
Premier, global, law firm is seeking a Senior Network Communications Engineer to be located in the Firm’s New York, NY office. The Senior Network Communications Engineer is responsible for LAN/WAN architecture, performance and troubleshooting, as well as for monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting data and telephony network equipment in all locations including two data centers. This position will also process network requests and trouble tickets, respond to on-call incidents during non-business hours and will provide training and second level network support to the helpdesk staff and Communications technicians. The Engineer generally assists the Sr. Communications Systems Manager with projects to define scope, BOM and deployment. The Sr. Network Communications Engineer provides high level service to locations with installed systems, in coordination with managers, takes necessary action to troubleshoot malfunctioning or inoperative equipment and systems; performs routine maintenance and upgrades as needed. Qualified candidates must have 6+ years of strong experience in and demonstrated knowledge of network theory and systems and 4+ years of experience in Cisco LAN/WAN implementation and maintenance. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of managing and troubleshooting complex network technologies including, but not limited to network protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, QOS), VLAN’s, DMZ, load balancing, WAN Optimization, Policy based routing and traffic prioritization. Also necessary is an in-depth knowledge and experience with TCP/IP and other networking and communications protocols; with Network Infrastructure products and technologies, including but not limited to, Cisco routers, Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Load balancers & WAN optimization; routing protocols, specifically EIGRP, OSPF, BGP and policy based routing; and Network Security products. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of state-full inspection and Next Generation firewall technology and the ability to understand and effectively implement precise rules on Palo Alto Networks and Cisco firewalls, as well as ACL’s on Cisco routers and switchers. End user experience with carrier WAN technologies and experience with troubleshooting techniques and tools such as is required. Candidates should also maintain knowledge of Cisco’s telephony products and must be able to troubleshoot issues with inbound and outbound voice traffic over local PRI lines. A Bachelor’s degree and CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, Security+ certifications are preferred.
