The Strategic Pricing Team is in a unique position where they work cross-functionally with each   Firm department and practice area, giving the team an unparalleled view into Firm operations and financial performance. The team is integral in assisting lawyers in developing client-centered pricing proposals that win work while balancing positive financial results for the Firm.

This position will have a high degree of exposure with Firm Partners and executive committee members, while collaborating closely with both the Director and Manager of Strategic Pricing and the team’s other analysts. This cross-functional role will also work with a wide range of Marketing and Finance professionals, and the Firm’s full spectrum of attorneys to develop new pricing arrangements, run matter and client analytics, and develop client pitches that balance competitiveness with financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with both the Director and Manger of Strategic Pricing as a key contact for client-facing pitches, RFPs, budgets, and rate negotiations, interfacing directly with Firm Partners, Marketing staff, and other key stakeholders to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various templates and robust financial and pricing models with other analysts to help provide partners with projected outcomes for alternative pricing arrangements.
  • Proactively monitor Firm clients and matters for profitability and budget performance, suggesting and executing improvements in fee arrangements or rates where necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new innovative pricing services and tracking mechanisms to generate new business and facilitate the success of existing arrangements.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Firm’s departments, practice groups, and clients to help develop strategic planning and pricing initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation of templatized pitch language in support of client proposals.
  • Compile and analyze data and historical statistics relating to revenue, realization, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-6 years of experience in a Pricing, Client Value, Procurement/Sourcing, or comparable Finance/Accounting position, with a strong preference for at least 2 of those years to be spent at a law firm.
  • Experience with legal pricing, rates, report building and design, budgeting, and financial analysis for law firms is highly desired.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively influence and contribute with concrete recommendations/next steps, across disparate practices, offices, and departments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, in writing and verbally, whether in small group discussions, large-scale presentations, or with executives.
  • An eye for design as it relates to dashboards, reports, presentations, and training materials – end user experience should be front of mind.
  • Comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights.
  • Experience preferred but not required with law firm technology such as Aderant and Intellistat, with a high proficiency in Excel, and Visualization Tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City or Washington D.C., if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City or Washington D.C Salary Range: $110,000.00-$140,000.00, plus bonus.
