EDGAR Specialist
New York, NY (remote)
The client-facing EDGAR specialist role is embedded within the firm’s dedicated EDGAR team, reports to the Senior EDGAR Manager, and works in close partnership with the Securities & Capital Markets practice. The EDGAR Specialist is responsible for end-to-end SEC filings, EDGAR Next account administration, and high-touch support for partners, associates, paralegals, and corporate clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will ensure filing precision, comply with all applicable regulations, uphold privilege and confidentiality, and align with established law firm billing practices and process frameworks. This is fully remote non-exempt role, with core hours from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. EDT, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Act as a primary EDGAR contact for matters: intake, scoping, timeline management, issue resolution, and liaison with SEC staff.
- Utilize EDGAR Next for firm and client matters: account/role provisioning, entitlements, user onboarding, technical validations, and secure administration.
- Prepare, convert, validate, and file SEC submissions including 10-K/10-Q/8-K, S-1/S-3/S-4/S-8, 424B, 13D/13G, 13F, Forms 3/4/5, Form 144, proxy statements and related exhibits.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and SEC rules: perform pre-filing checks.
- Perform iXBRL tagging and validation; resolve tagging issues and revalidate as needed.
- Perform technical checks, fix errors, and produce clean submissions.
- Maintain privileged document handling and retention practices: follow confidentiality and recordkeeping protocols.
- Provide off-hours/alternative shift coverage as needed; support special projects and training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; paralegal/legal operations background a plus. Minimum 4+ years’ EDGAR filing experience in a law firm or equivalent securities/capital markets environment supporting law firm clients.
- Deep working knowledge of SEC rules, filing timelines and protocols for the forms listed above.
- iXBRL tagging and validation experience required.
- Advanced proficiency with GoFiler and/or EDGAR filing tools, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office; familiarity with Intelligize/Westlaw/EDGAR research tools a plus.
- Strong understanding of law firm billing/matter coding, timekeeping, privilege/confidentiality obligations, and document retention best practices.
- Exceptional client service, communication, and drafting skills; proven ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines, and to interact professionally with partners and senior attorneys.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to compliance and quality control.
- Reliable, responsive, and able to provide as-needed off-hours support for time-sensitive filings.
Compensation
- $92,000.00 to $96,000.00 annually plus overtime
