Research Services Manager

Summary
The Research Services Manager is an integral part of the firm’s Research Services team. This role will be responsible for supervising and developing staff and making substantial contributions to research and monitoring services, while providing regular feedback, generating formal performance evaluations as required, and making recommendations in selecting, coaching, and counseling department employees in collaboration with department leadership and Human Capital & Talent. This role will be located in either their Orange County, San Diego, or Los Angeles office in Century City. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities
- Conducting complex legal and non-legal research, managing workflow, synthesizing and analyzing results for relevancy and responsiveness to the specific research request, and following up with requestors to ensure excellent service
- Monitoring business, industry, and legal news sources for developments regarding clients, industries, and practice areas, while utilizing aggregator platforms to assemble relevant results for distribution to attorneys and business services staff
- Coordinating department orientation and awareness sessions for attorneys and business services staff
- Working with department leadership on department initiatives and leading projects as assigned
- Overseeing local operations, which includes coordinating invoice payments, assisting with the annual budget, reviewing monthly variance reports, managing electronic and print purchases and renewals, and handling space management
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that the firm retains
Qualifications
- Possess advanced legal and non-legal research knowledge and skills
- Demonstrate the ability to lead effective department training for attorneys, departmental colleagues, and other business services staff
- Exhibit the ability to work as a team player and interact with diplomacy and tact with people at all organizational levels of the firm
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- A master’s degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.)
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience, preferably
- A minimum of seven (7) years of cumulative experience

Compensation: $150,000.00-$170,000.00, plus bonus.
