Litigation Paralegal-Securities

Summary
Premier, national, law, firm seeks a proactive and experienced Paralegal to work with their Securities Litigation Department in their Los Angeles office. The Paralegal, who will report to the Managing Director of Paralegals, will work directly with their 5 attorneys and staff to prepare for upcoming and ongoing cases to help reach the common goal of successful case outcomes. Specifically, the Paralegal will assist with conducting research, proofreading, cite-checking, bluebooking, and filing of court documents. They will also handle office administration and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and resourceful, and will possess a customer service, team-oriented mindset.
Key Paralegal Responsibilities
- Perform legal and factual research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, BloombergLaw, AlphaSense, and other systems
- Proofread and cite-check/fact-check briefs, complaints, and other documents
- Prepare, finalize, and file legal documents
- Assist with retrieval of rules and regulations
- Organize and track case files, and maintain reference files
- Prepare for depositions, hearings, trials and/or client meetings (includes scheduling with multiple parties including outside counsel and vendors, preparing exhibits, etc.)
- Maintain time entries in iTimeKeep
Key Office Administration Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact with building management, security and vendors; facilitate building access for visitors, maintenance and repairs
- Answer phones and greet clients and visitors; screen telephone calls, mail, and packages
- Create UPS and FedEx labels and prepare packages for shipping; assist with printing and binding needs
- Serve as the first point of contact for any copy/print/computer issues, in collaboration with the firm’s centralized IT support team and/or external vendors
- Order office and kitchen supplies and manage inventory
- Ensure the office, conference room, and storage room remain neat and fully stocked with needed supplies
- Maintain kitchen amenities, including keeping kitchen and supply area stocked, clean, and functional
- Coordinate office lunch orders for meetings or as requested by attorneys, which may include picking up food, set up and/or clean up
- Assist with the onboarding of new hires in collaboration with the Managing Director of HR
- Organize office parties and birthday celebrations, and other ad-hoc projects as they arise
- Take on additional administrative duties or special projects that may arise to support fluctuating office needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, plus 3-5 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm (securities litigation experience is a plus, as is class action experience)
- Experience with e-filing or assisting in e-filing in federal district courts
- Solid experience and skills performing cite checking and Bluebooking
- Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, BloombergLaw, and other court and news-related sources
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills
- Strong proofreading and grammar skills along with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Effectively able to organize and prioritize work, and the ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to multitask, handling multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Strong word processing and computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- The ability and willingness to work overtime to meet business needs, as needed
- Occasional flexibility with shifting work hours (i.e. beginning early or staying late, separate from overtime), if business needs require
Work Environment
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Los Angeles, CA
- This is a hybrid role typically 3-4 days in-office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays required); 1-2 days work-from-home
- Overtime (above 35 hours) may be required based on business needs

- Salary range: $85,000.00-$115,000.00, plus overtime and bonus. This position is eligible for an annual merit-based bonus.
