Firm is a privately held real estate debt and equity investment firm based in New York and New Jersey, with a large portfolio of multifamily units and a rapidly expanding private credit platform. They have transacted on hundreds of millions in real estate acquisitions and loans in the past two years, closing over 75 loans. The main focus is on the credit side of the business, and they anticipate investing billions of dollars into lending over the next several years.

Their leadership team combines deep experience in real estate, capital markets, and law: Principal is a fourth-generation real estate operator; Principal, with capital markets roles at Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, Lehman, and Nomura; and General Counsel, a former partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres and in-house counsel at CIBC World Markets.

Summary
Firm is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Paralegal with at least three years of experience in commercial real estate lending to join their legal and transactions team. This person will work directly with our in-house counsel, (formerly of Certilman Balin), supporting the full loan closing process-from due diligence through post-closing. The ideal candidate will excel at managing multiple transactions, solving problems proactively, and keeping complex processes on track.

Responsibilities

  • Due Diligence Management: Review and track deliverables including surveys, title reports, insurance certificates, organizational documents, lien searches, and third-party reports.
  • Title Review: Analyze title commitments, exceptions, endorsements, and policies; coordinate resolution of title issues with counsel, title companies, and counter-parties.
  • Closing Coordination: Manage timelines and communication between internal teams, borrowers, outside counsel, title companies, and other transaction participants.
  • Loan Documentation: Assist with drafting, reviewing, and finalizing loan and ancillary documents; proofread for accuracy and consistency.
  • Pipeline Tracking: Monitor multiple deals simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
  • Post-Closing: Assemble and distribute closing binders, track post-closing obligations, and maintain organized transaction files.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage document management systems and transaction software to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a paralegal in commercial real estate lending or finance.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage documentation, title review, surveys, and closing procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing tools; comfort adopting new software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and written/verbal communication abilities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NY CEMA transactions, title endorsements, and recording requirements.
  • Background in commercial real estate transactions from a lender, law firm, or title company.
  • Familiarity with closing software and digital document management systems.
