Billing Manager

Summary
The Billing Manager plays a crucial role in the firm by overseeing all aspects of the billing process. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of legal billing practices and excellent communication skills. The Billing Manager will lead and mentor a team of billing specialists to ensure accurate and timely invoice preparation and delivery, while adhering to client billing guidelines and firm policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Billing Partner Collaboration
- Work with billing partners to ensure timely and optimal billing collections.
Billing Operations Management
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the billing team.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, including e-billing submissions.
- Implement and maintain billing procedures and workflows to maximize efficiency.
- Work with Firm Billing Committee to oversee process improvements and generate data and reports at the Committee’s request.
- Oversee the review of pre-bills for accuracy, compliance with client agreements, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
- Manage the resolution of billing inquiries and disputes from clients and attorneys.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and implement process improvements.
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key client contacts.
- Proactively address client billing inquiries.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Generate and analyze billing reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide timely and accurate billing information to the stakeholders.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement in the billing process.
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to the billing team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify areas for professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in legal billing software preferably Elite 3E, E-billing Hub, Conflict Searches and Microsoft Office Suite and other.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a law firm billing environment.
- Experience managing a team of billing specialists.
- Strong knowledge of legal billing practices and ethical guidelines.
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
Firm provides competitive compensation and benefits to its employees, ensuring that we attract and retain the most talented individuals. The expected base salary for this role ranges from $175,000.00-$215,000.00, plus bonus. The base salary offer is based on a variety of factors which includes, but not limited to qualifications, education and experience.
