Summary

A leading national law firm is looking for a Financial Services Litigation Paralegal in our New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate filings and procedural processes in state, federal, appellate, and ADR forums, including both electronic and in-person submissions.
  • Review and ensure legal filings comply with jurisdictional rules, judge-specific procedures, and venue practices across multiple court systems.
  • Liaise with courts, filing services, and local counsel to meet procedural and scheduling requirements.
  • Stay current on procedural updates and judges’ rules and disseminate relevant information.
  • Conduct docket searches and retrieve necessary legal documents from court repositories and databases.
  • Execute rules-based calendaring and support court & calendar functions to ensure deadline compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with the docketing team to generate reports and track filings, court dates, and procedural deadlines.
  • Knowledge of New York real property law, including familiarity with relevant statutes, case law, and common legal instruments (e.g., deeds, leases, mortgages)
  • Perform legal research and factual investigations; analyze and proofread documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Verify the accuracy of legal citations using Bluebook, local standards, cite-checking, and Shepardizing techniques.
  • Draft and review tables of contents and authorities (TOC/TOA) and prepare document indexes for court and ADR submissions.
  • Review, organize, redact, bates-stamp, and index documents for e-discovery; prepare privilege logs and production matrixes.
  • Assemble deposition, hearing, and trial binders with labeled and indexed supporting materials.
  • Support trial preparation by organizing trial exhibits, motions, evidence, and witness materials.
  • Coordinate logistics for trial schedules including court reporters, witness appearances, and delivery of trial materials.
  • Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to calendaring, filings, and cross-jurisdictional litigation support.
  • Computer Applications Used:
    • Electronic filing systems (NYSCEF, CM/ECF, PACER), document management software, and legal research platforms
    • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Kofax
    • iManage

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certificate or related degree preferred
  • 5 Years Experience
  • 4 days in-office
  • Start time for this role will be either 8:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. (Work day hours Monday to Thursday 7.75 hours and Friday 7.5 hours plus overtime when necessary.)

Compensation

The budgeted salary range for this position is $90,000 – $125,000, non exempt
