Senior Managing Attorney: Docket & Court Services

Summary
Our client, an Am Law 50 law firm with offices worldwide, has an opening for a Senior Managing Attorney: Docket & Court Services in their New York or San Francisco office! The Senior Managing Attorney develops, plans, and executes business strategy for firmwide Docket and Court Services and is responsible for strategic, operational, and fiscal performance, including management of firmwide calendaring protocol, court and e-filing services, processes and procedures, risk management and vendor relations.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain standardized and consistent court and e-filing services support to all litigators firmwide. Ensure team’s effectiveness in completing all required court filing tasks and adhere to applicable court rules and procedures.
- Guide review process for documents prior to filing to ensure adherence to court requirements. Effectively convey detailed information to ensure compliance with court rules.
- Serve as an advisor to attorneys and legal staff regarding service of process and document retrieval and other procedural information as requested. Anticipate obstacles and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of calendar entries.
- Provide high-level procedural advice and support to case teams. Collaborate with other departments as needed to fulfill client service needs.
- Maintain and demonstrate advanced knowledge of court/agency rules and procedures. Advise attorneys and team accordingly.
- Ensure staff is knowledgeable and trained on core competencies to maintain consistent support across offices. Provide supportive coaching; set achievable, challenging team goals; develop skills of team members to ensure successful achievement of client service priorities.
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of risk management issues applicable to Docket Services. Collaborate with the Firm’s General Counsel, Risk Management Chair, Senior Director of Paralegal Services, and other key stakeholders to ensure department policies and practices support the Firm’s risk management objectives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant law firm experience.
- Previous supervisory experience required. Minimum of 5 years managing large teams or cross-office teams strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with managing automated litigation calendaring software and processes required. Previous experience with CompuLaw preferred.
- Highly effective communications skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization and to build effective internal and external relationships.
- Strong sense of accountability, consistently demonstrating ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
- Skill to assess and analyze issues and needs and to determine priorities based on business objectives to provide responsive solutions. A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
- Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions. Ability to apply big picture understanding to strategy and decision making.
- High comfort level in a fast-paced client service driven environment. Ability to listen effectively and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $360,000 – $475,000, exempt. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.
