Contracts Management Attorney

Summary

Our client is looking to hire an experienced attorney to join the Professional Responsibility Department, overseeing all aspects of the review, negotiation, and management of firm contracts.  The Contracts Management Attorney will report to the Deputy General Counsel and work closely with lawyers and business professionals throughout the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts for a wide variety of vendors and service providers (e.g., software, events, facilities, publications, experts and consultants).
  • Work closely with internal business professionals to understand business needs and provide practical and strategic legal advice, with appropriate attention to risk mitigation.
  • Provide guidance on contracting and negotiating topics, such as contract interpretation, renewals, and disputes.
  • Develop and maintain template agreements and standard terms for use in common contracts.
  • Maintain reference library of prior agreements and terms.
  • Assist with establishing, implementing, and maintaining contract lifecycle management policies and processes.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Stay abreast of legal and functional developments and trends, to ensure sufficiency and continuous improvement of existing contracting practices.
  • Liaise with internal and external legal resources as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • D. required.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience practicing law, with significant experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and intellectual property contract terms preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate legal terms and concepts in plain English to non-lawyer business professionals.
  • Excellent work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility to manage a varied workload in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent character and personal integrity to work with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong sense of business and legal ethics.

This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance in accordance with the schedule set forth by the department. A hybrid schedule is an essential function of this role.

Compensation

$155,000 – $215,000, exempt.  Our client offers competitive compensation and benefits packages.  The firm considers a number of factors when determining compensation, including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, levels of experience, competency levels and other relevant skills and qualifications.
