Summary

The Senior Business Development & Marketing Manager supports the overall business development and marketing efforts of the firm. The Sr. Manager works directly with the Sr. Director of Business Development & Marketing on key business development and marketing initiatives, and plays a key role in helping to drive the firm’s business growth and reputation in the market.  The Sr. Manager provides direct support to the firm’s attorneys on business development planning and execution and helps lead a variety of marketing-related activities.

The Sr. Manager will cultivate and foster a business development and marketing approach, commensurate with the firm’s operating environment and values. The position will help identify and support new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, facilitate the delivery of exceptional client experiences, and differentiate the firm positively in the industry.

The position will be based in New York in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Business Development and Marketing operations, including management of Marketing & Communications Specialist and BD Analyst and close collaboration with other department team members.
  • Work with Sr. BD & Marketing Director, practice group leads, and other firm partners on the development and execution of strategic business development and marketing plans including goals, action items, and deliverables.
  • Work with attorneys on business development and promotional materials including the drafting and preparing of written proposals, pitches, RFP responses, and other communications to client and prospective clients
  • Evolve marketing collateral (e.g. practice and firm descriptions, attorney bios, etc.) and collaborate with Content Manager to ensure all marketing content is maintained and kept up-to-date.
  • Oversee and conduct business development research on clients, prospective clients, competitor firms, markets, and industries.
  • Oversee the development and execution of internal updates on key clients and tracking of key client and firm news.
  • Oversee email marketing including publication of client alerts, email campaigns, and client and alumni newsletters, ensuring consistency, accuracy and quality in content that is shared externally.
  • Oversee the upkeep and accuracy of CRM system and targeted Firm mailing lists for events, client alerts and other Firm communications.
  • Oversee the coordination and execution of events, including client and alumni gatherings, client CLEs, in-house seminars, conferences, and other programming.
  • Oversee the creation and submission of Firm advertisements and other collateral to appropriate publications, conferences, and organizations.
  • Help manage the Firm’s alumni program including alumni relations and related communication and marketing efforts.
  • Contribute to the development, editing and submission of Firm rankings and awards for publications such as Chambers, Benchmark Legal 500, and Law360, among others.
  • Support lateral attorney integration efforts.
  • Help manage relationships with external consultants and vendors, including conference producers, public relations, and design firms.
  • Handle additional related projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • At least six to ten years of law firm business development and marketing experience, including at least three years of managerial experience;
  • Experience navigating a fast-paced, intellectual, sophisticated, and client-service oriented environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills;
  • High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients
  • Ability to work closely with and collaborate equally well with firm attorneys, other administrative managers and business professionals across the firm;
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and to meet deadlines;
  • Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities;
  • Outstanding attention to detail including excellent proofreading and editing skills;
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suit, Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, E-Marketing, and CRM programs (experience with InterAction a plus);
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML and other website technologies and experience managing social media platforms a plus;
  • Motivation and energy, the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed in support of client events or other projects.

Compensation

The starting base salary range is $170,000 – $210,000, plus competitive benefits and bonus eligibility.
