Summary
Overall responsibility for all aspects of the Partnership Matters function. Partnership Matters is responsible for the accounting for all partner related activity, including capital, earnings, loans, personal charges, and taxes. Partnership Matters is the Payroll function for all partners and administers all Partnership votes. Partnership Matters supports several other functions in the firm and receives many ad hoc requests from these other functions.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all Partnership Matters responsibilities are carried out accurately and expeditiously.
- Reviewing all partner agreements to ensure that compensation and capital provisions are accurately stated prior to the agreement being executed.
- Ensuring that all compensation and unique items such as COLA, tax guarantees, relocation packages, etc., are paid in accordance with agreed upon terms.
- Meet with all new partners to discuss, compensation payment timing, options for funding capital, foreign taxes, and annual pension contributions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the administrative aspects of and questions relating to the Partner Portal.
- Provide monthly personal charge and tax statements and related analyses, and publish these statements via the Partner Tax and Finance Portal.
- Review and analyze personal charge and tax accounts, identify and resolve any issues, and prepare monthly “clean ups.”
- Maintain partner capital files and prepare annual statements using Excel and Excel macros.
- Perform year-end close out journal entries for Partner capital and draws.
- Prepare quarterly and non-quarterly partner distributions and statements, and publish these on the Partner Portal.
- Prepare all bank wires, payment instructions and journal entries as requested. Maintain monthly draw data and reconciliation files, including all required file updates affecting partner draws.
- Assist with the Partner population paid through ADP and the corresponding monthly draw journal entries and applications.
- Maintain monthly partner headcount information and communicate with other departments to ensure the reported headcount is consistent and accurate.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules and folders for the pre-compensation process, maintain the assigned schedules, and verify updates during the compensation process.
- Compile daily compensation process packages and deliver to the assigned Policy Committee members.
- Manage partnership votes through a 3rd party website, update voter data, setup voter communications, and test the voting system on a regular basis.
- Utilize the Partner voting system to run the insurance enrollment and renewals and communicate with the insurance agent throughout the annual enrollment process.
- Publish annual insurance certificates to the Partner Portal and send the enrollment data to Benefits.
- Assist with the Annual Directorship confirmations, including file setup, macro language revisions and any questions related to Excel and Excel macros.
- Assist with non-periodic assignments related to partner compensation, capital, personal charges/taxes, income verifications, and/or distribution forecasts.
- Perform Partner compensation forecasts and budgets, including requests for Partner Budget process schedules.
- Assist with requests from other groups and departments related to Partners.
- Prepare currency analyses of partner compensation and impact of Partner earnings, as requested.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Law firm and Partnership accounting experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Diverse experience as an accountant or consultant.
- Experience managing a team with diverse responsibilities.
- Strong Project management, time management, organization, prioritization and execution skills.
- Strong MS Excel skills, including knowledge of Excel macros.
- Superior analytical skills.

- Focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to stay focused and calm in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Compensation
$175,000-$200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
