IT Specialist

Summary

Premier, forward thinking, global, law firm is conducting a search for an IT Specialist for their New York Office. The IT Specialist will support hardware, software and multimedia events and provide us the ability to respond to any issue and other various tasks that arise.  Under direction of supervisor, performs a variety of technology support functions including hardware, software, and multimedia.  Provide advanced technical and informational assistance to users of the Firm computer systems in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner. Assist with the installation, configuration and support of Windows-based equipment and applications in our network environment. Assist with the setup and execution of video and hybrid conferences & events. Assist users with using Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other video and teleconference platforms. Perform software and hardware product testing to ensure that proposed technology meets design specifications and is within total quality management limits and standards. Perform routine support on computers, printers, and other peripherals, including but not limited to connecting to wireless networks, clearing paper jams, replacing toner cartridges, relocation and/or temporary setup of computer equipment, re-imaging, etc.  Provide after-hours technical support and coverage when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve calls for service referred by the Help Desk, as needed.
  • Install new software packages on Firm computers and assist users with getting started and becoming self-sufficient with firm technology.
  • Complete office setups and relocations as necessary.
  • Assist with documentation and inventory of hardware & software as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new technology.
  • Responsible for the completion of assigned project deliverables and identify implementation issues in a clear, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Assist other staff members with special projects as required.
  • Adhere to the firm’s technology standards, data protection and security awareness policies and procedures.
  • Keep manager informed on the status of work/projects, problem areas and customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with computer users regarding problems and questions.
  • Excellent customer services skills and the ability to work in a challenging environment.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing systems and web conferencing equipment and systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to understand and translate technical material for non-technical users.
  • Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • General knowledge of PC LANs and networks including Windows.
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications and upgrades to existing applications. 

Education and Experience 

  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired during four years of high school.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree is not required but preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Windows and network environment.
  • Previous experience in the legal field is desired.
  • Previous experience teaching computer applications and writing documentation for applications is desired.

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00-$90,000.00, dependent on experience
