Summary

The manager plays a critical role in developing, implementing and administering compensation and performance management programs for attorney and administrative staff. This hands-on subject matter expert will provide strategic consultative analysis, support and recommendations related to compensation planning and programs, external market practices and performance evaluation processes. 

Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions

  • Manage and administer the firm’s compensation cycles for both attorney and administrative staff, including salary programs; annual incentive programs; annual benchmarking; salary band updates; reviewing and updating position descriptions; conducting job evaluations; and modeling analysis
  • Lead attorney and administrative staff performance evaluation processes by administering all review cycles in accordance with timelines and approvals
  • Recommend and participate in salary surveys in order to ensure competitiveness with market pay practices, pay for performance culture and internal pay equity
  • Provide salary recommendations for new hires, promotions, and ad hoc adjustments. Proactively monitor market and economic trends as they relate to compensation
  • Track key issues, practices, and trends in compensation by participating in industry groups, conducting benchmarking studies, and gathering market intelligence from internal and external recruiters
  • Act as lead and/or team member on compensation related projects
  • Design, implement and maintain compensation audit plans to ensure data accuracy
  • Keep apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure Firm compliance with FLSA and EEO related requirements
  • Any other responsibilities or special projects as assigned by upper management

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • 8+ years of progressive compensation experience in a legal and/or corporate environment
  • Workday compensation experience and proven ability to seamlessly adapt to new systems.
  • Experience designing compensation and performance management programs
  • Knowledge of leading compensation practices across multiple geographies
  • Strong analytical, project management and process management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience interfacing with all levels of employees
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects and adjust to shifting priorities, while meeting deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex conditional formulas, basic macros) with an ability and desire to conduct analysis on large data sets and draw conclusions/make recommendations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local FLSA and EEO regulations

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field
  • CCP certification, or work towards completion, is highly desired

Salary: $150,000.00-$170,000.00, dependent on experience
