Project Manager

Summary

The Project Manager works as part of the Project Management team to successfully delivery Firm projects on time, on scope and on budget.  This role also supports the Firm project management tool and portfolio under the oversight of the COO and Manager, Project Management & Portfolio Services. 

Essential Functions

  • Manages projects as directed by the Manager, Project Management & Portfolio Services
  • Acts as Program Manager to ensure multiple related parties are hitting same strategic goals
  • Supports portfolio management by overseeing the scheduling of projects based on resource constraints and scope prerequisites
  • Supports the implementation and administration of the Firm’s project management tool and project portfolio
  • Provides significant contributions to building the maturity of the Firm’s project management offering, including building templates and defining PM processes. 

Applies standard project management practices such as:

  • Understands complex business problems, articulates desired solutions and steps required to achieve solutions.
  • Develops business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Sets the direction for project teams for completing project objectives and manage plan execution.
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Maps, measures and improves underlying processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Researches best practices within and outside the Firm to establish benchmark data.
  • Leads project sessions around requirements planning, process design and decision making.
  • Enables decision making by analyzing business drivers and constraints and present alternative solutions to address problems and opportunities.
  • Leverages negotiation skills to drive project team members and senior management to decide in a timely manner to deliver project on agreed scope and schedule.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to enlist support and champion the change throughout the Firm.
  • Engages and present information to senior management to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
  • Determines and assess the need for additional internal resources, vendors and/or consultants and take the action, if necessary and approved, during the project cycle.
  • Tracks and report project milestones and deliverables.
  • Incorporates lessons learned into future projects to ensure desired results.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Masters in related field preferred. 

Experience & Skills

  • At least 5 years relevant experience in the professional services sector, law firm experience a plus.
  • PMP or similar certification desirable.
  • Skilled in the project management process with thorough understanding of the project life cycle, methodologies and project tools.
  • Prior experience with continuous improvement, process re-engineering, and/or change management.
  • Experience managing teams on a cross-functional level.
  • Ability to communicate well and provide clear direction on projects.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under demanding time constraints.
  • Must be able to keep information confidential.
  • Must be highly professional, detail oriented, analytical, and have ability to work both independently and part of a group; must excel in a demanding high-performance environment
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Proficient in Project Management software, Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $110,000.00-$120,000.00, dependent on experience
