Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Manager (Client Relations)

Summary
An Am Law 50 law firm with 17 offices worldwide, has an opening for an Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Manager -Recruitment Strategy and Client Relations within their Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Department. They are inviting applications from candidates interested in working in any of the following offices: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York or Washington D.C..
Reporting directly to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO), the Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Manager-Recruitment Strategy and Client Relations designs, coordinates and manages, tracks, and evaluates initiatives and programs designed to support the recruitment of diverse attorneys and summer associates. The successful candidate will partner with appropriate parties to implement diversity initiatives and organize local and firmwide diversity programs and will assist in benchmarking, reporting, and maintaining diversity & inclusion records.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
D+I CLIENT RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT
- In consultation with the CDIO, D+I Manager, Women’s Initiatives Senior Manager and Events team, design, manage, and run all large scale internal and client-facing D+I events (i.e. Change From The Top)
- Support CDIO, Chairs of the Diversity & Women’s Strategy Committees, and Senior Women’s Initiatives Manager, in providing marketing & BD support to partners as needed.
- Present, as necessary, on D+I for external presentations to clients/organizations/ prospective talent.
- Educate and prepare attorneys and staff for D+I related external presentations to clients/organizations/prospective talent, drafting talking points where necessary.
- In consultation with the D+I and Marketing teams, draft talking points/responses to all client related requests for substantive information regarding our D+I and Women’s Initiatives efforts.
- Develop and maintain tracking system for all client engagement efforts, presentations and partnerships related to D+I and ensure proper follow up with clients and relationship partners.
- Prepare D+I materials for CDIO, Women’s Initiatives Senior Manager, BD team and attorneys for client presentations to ensure the Firm is meeting client expectations with respect to D&I initiatives.
- Coordinate the collection of competitor intelligence to ensure proper differentiation and positioning of Firm and that we are keeping up with best practices across the industry.
- Create and archive D+I presentation materials for CDIO and Senior Women’s Initiatives Manager, DSC and WSC (PowerPoint, Excel).
- Work with Marketing team to help strengthen the Firm’s ties to diverse alumni.
MARKETING TEAM SUPPORT
- Serve as copy writer and editor for Diversity + Inclusion Team for talking points, surveys, social media, portal/website, internal and external collateral. Produce substantive content for D&I marketing materials and work with the marketing team on maintaining content on the Firm’s D&I web page (internal and external, i.e. diversity headlines).
- Provide substantive information and copy to Marketing/BD team in support of BD team drafting responses to the D+I and Women’s portion of surveys and pitches, including talking points when necessary.
- Promote and manage the production of Firm’s Diversity in Practice podcast
- Conduct and present benchmarking and other market/peer research and analysis around D+I Best Practices
- Work with the Firm’s Marketing/ PR team to help manage external diversity brand in the market including identifying the key messages for dissemination, and promoting the Firm’s D&I capability and expertise via appropriate media outlets to be determined by Marketing/PR department.
- Work with the Marketing team to develop client updates and communications regarding diversity and inclusion best practice and thought leadership.
- Work with Marketing to track and maintain relationships with diverse, women and ally alumni.
ATTORNEY DEVELOPMENT, RECRUITING, AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Work with CDIO and D+I Managers to organize all internal and external programming, including identifying, engaging, and preparing speakers, panelists and presenters.
- Manage all large scale D+I events collaborating with relevant departments where necessary and serving as the D+I team’s resident moderator.
- Work with the Diversity and Inclusion Manager to manage and enhance the Diversity Mentoring Program’s Client Perspectives program and other client-related associate development programs.
- Assist Diversity and Inclusion Manager and Specialist with all Affinity Network events, especially those with interested clients. Serve as panel moderator where necessary.
- Collaborate with D+I Manager to manage Diversity In Practice podcast script writing, schedule, recordings and editing process, with an eye toward raising profile of diverse attorneys and engaging clients.
- Work with D+I and Women’s teams to select and manage diversity and women’s “spotlights” on website and social media.
- Work with D+I Manager, Marketing Department and Recruiting team to create Campus Recruiting material around D+I and Women, as necessary.
GENERAL
- Act as Marketing contact for all diversity surveys.
- Assist with event coordination and planning.
- Assist with creation of PowerPoint presentations, agendas, data analysis, and marketing materials.
- Track all external partnerships; conduct annual ROI on engagements.
- Serve as D+I panel moderator as needed.
- Marketing support: Act as resource to CDIO, D+I Managers, and Marketing department regarding providing diversity-related information relating to attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and, as appropriate, other minority attorneys as requested from clients and external organizations sponsoring surveys and awards.
- Diversity Community and Recruiting Pages: Provide assistance with maintaining these pages and resources on the firm’s intranet.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- JD with minimum three years of practice experience at a major law firm preferred.
- Strong writing skills and strong public speaking (previous experience as a professional moderator or MC preferred).
- Strong background in large scale event management in a professional services environment preferred.
- Background in marketing and/or public relations for a professional service environment preferred.
Teamwork and Applied Skills
- High client service ethic and a proven record in delivering exemplary client satisfaction to external and internal client constituencies.
- Excellent writing skills; ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside the firm.
- Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.

Salary: $140,000.00-$150,000.00, dependent on experience
