Manager, Professional Development & Attorney Training

Job Description

Work jointly with Director of Professional Development & Attorney Training to manage and support various professional development functions, including training programs, workshops, mentoring, new associate orientation, special projects and other professional development programs. 

Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions

  • Manage the Firm’s attorney mentoring program
  • Manage and develop various departmental training programs
  • Manage workshop series, boot camps, and seminars
  • Attend professional development committee meetings and work with Director to further the goals and projects identified
  • Serve as core member of New Associate Orientation planning and execution team
  • Identify and implement new training opportunities
  • Acquire solid expertise in CLE rules
  • Supervise assistant in maintaining mentoring database, workshop logistics and additional projects;
  • Partner with Director to identify needs and goals to provide top professional development support to the firm’s attorneys
  • Serve as a mentor, role model and advisor to professional development staff
  • Special projects as needed  ​
  • Any additional responsibilities as required by management. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Learning & development professional with 7+ years of experience supporting or managing professional development programs for lawyers OR a JD with strong interested in professional development work
  • Prior management experience in Professional Development, Diversity, Pro Bono, Legal Personnel, or other related law firm administrative field
  • Understands law firm dynamics and has the ability to work effectively with many different constituencies in the law firm environment
  • Ability to take ownership on multiple projects and see them through to completion
  • Ability to prioritize and navigate time-pressured or high-priority situations
  • Thinks creatively about new ideas/concepts and solutions to existing challenges; expresses opinions about creative choices and strategic decisions ​ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written/verbal communications; proactively communicates to facilitate workflow, teamwork and efficiency; chooses appropriate communication tools and utilizes technology to facilitate communications
  • Helps to create a climate that enables others to excel; helps to develops plans to meet operational & strategic expectations
  • Understands and values diversity and inclusion efforts and how they relate to training and development in the context of the Firm’s broader D&I initiative. 

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $150,000.00-$180,000.00, dependent on experience
