Litigation Communications Manager

Summary

As a Litigation Communications Manager, you will help expand brand reach and visibility for the firm and its Litigation practices, industries and attorneys through media relations, social media and multimedia content.

This role will work closely with other colleagues in the department, including Business Development colleagues, to support business development and branding for the firm’s attorneys and practice groups through innovative and creative communications strategies. The goal is not to maintain the status quo, but to regularly be bringing new, proactive ideas to partners and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming press inquiries, identify and pitch story ideas to position lawyers as experts in legal, business and trade publications
  • Coordinate and counsel lawyers on press opportunities, prepare talking points and provide media coaching as needed
  • Identify, build and strengthen relationships with key media contacts and connect them to partners as media sources
  • Obtain placements in media outlets, including quotes, expert analysis and thought leadership
  • Develop collegial and collaborative relationships with partners, practice group leaders, and business development teams to develop key messaging and identify media opportunities
  • Draft and review various written materials, including press releases, article pitches, web announcements, social media posts, and other content as needed
  • Lead and guide more junior team members
  • Collaborate with the firm’s external public relations agency to develop and execute PR plans/strategies
  • Regularly monitor relevant news outlets to identify topical trends and stories as potential media opportunities
  • Support strategy around internal and crisis communications as needed

Requirements

  • 5+ years prior experience in a marketing or communications-related field
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with a working knowledge of professional services sectors
  • Working knowledge of the legal industry and law firm market experience
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to successfully lead multiple projects and work with little direction in a highly collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Comprehensive, accurate note-taking and excellent proofreading skills
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, work well under pressure and coordinate sophisticated communications programs with good results
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Assertive, but flexible; able to handle stressful situations and interact with various personalities and communication styles at all levels in the firm
  • Strong analytic and research skills

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $135,000.00-$145,000.00, dependent on experience
