Career Advisor

Summary

Global law firm’s Talent Network is hiring a Career Advisor to provide career guidance and coaching to lawyers and alumni. The Career Advisor will be an integral part of the firm’s innovative Talent Network, which includes the Career and Alumni Resource Center and Alumni Network, providing career counseling to current and former lawyers at all stages in their careers.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide individualized career counseling to associates and alumni, including identifying opportunities, resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, networking best practices and offer evaluation. Serve as a general resource for lawyers as they explore future career paths
  • Source in-house and other professional opportunities for lawyers using the Resource Center
  • Serve as a networking resource to associates and alumni by facilitating connections, working with clients, and developing relationships with select external recruiters
  • Work with partners, clients, and alumni to identify candidates for key job openings
  • Research and stay abreast of legal market employment trends
  • Develop and update resources for lawyers to utilize as part of their career transition
  • Contribute to marketing efforts to promote the Talent Network both internally and externally, including alumni newsletter
  • Assist in administration of the Firm’s Alumni Network website, including content and functionality
  • Track and report on program metrics for the Talent Network
  • Organize panels and other relevant programming on topics of interest to associates and alumni
  • Collaborate with members of the Legal Recruiting and Professional Development, Legal Personnel, Business Development, Communications, Special Events, and Information Services departments

In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining Firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the Firm’s information security policies, protecting Firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of legal hiring trends and practices
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and trust
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Highly organized and self-directed approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously; excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and ethics with the ability to maintain confidentiality

Education and/or experience

Required:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in career coaching and/or in-house recruiting, preferably in the legal industry or other professional services firm
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred:

  • J.D. and experience as a practicing attorney
  • Significant experience sourcing and placing attorneys into in-house roles
  • Experience working in a law firm environment

Salary: $125,000-$175,000, dependent on experience
