Corporate Practice Management Specialist

Global law firm seeks a dedicated Corporate Practice Management Specialist to join its Professional Resources team in New York. Working with the New York Professional Resources team, the Specialist will further the Firm’s strategic objective of training, developing and retaining highly accomplished and dedicated professionals, while supporting the Corporate Department’s practice management objectives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Staffing & Productivity
• Support Legal Director and Managers with resource allocation and productivity management generally
• Create staffing reports to determine associates individual workflow capacities, and flag potential staffing issues or opportunities
• Regularly monitor time and availability of attorneys to effectively assign and reallocate matters, as necessary, and maximize overall productivity
• Balance practice group staffing needs and client service considerations with associate preferences and career development goals
• Assist with interfacing with assigning attorneys to respond to and clarify staffing requests; assist with conducting outreach to associates regarding capacity, interest and overall workflow

Attorney Training Programs
• Coordinate practice group meetings and trainings, including scheduling, liaising with presenters, editing and circulating materials, uploading to Knowledge Management Portals/resource repositories
• Liaise with Professional Resources team in New York to coordinate CLE eligibility for trainings and compliance with related processes
• Arrange for programs to be uploaded to the Firm’s ELearning platform for subsequent viewing
• Maintain lists of programs on the Firm’s ELearning platform applicable to or developed by the various practice groups
• Arrange for programs with third-party vendors
• Liaise with preferred providers, including PLI on practice group rosters and program requests
• Liaise with Knowledge Management and Knowledge Services teams on needs and distributions of periodicals/knowledge tools, etc.

Attorney Management
• Manage secondments, office transfers, leaves of absence and alternative work schedules in conjunction with HR, Benefits, Finance, Office Administrators and other necessary parties
• Coordinate with Recruiting, HR and Labor regarding taxes, visas and other employment issues
• Oversee logistics of necessary Bar admissions
• Oversee compliance with the Firm’s time entry policies

Attorney Evaluations
• Facilitate the administration of attorney evaluations
• Support Legal Director and Managers during mid-year and year-end evaluation processes

Associate Mentoring and Morale
• Develop relationships with associates in order to serve as a resource for questions regarding their individual professional development
• Assist with the development, implementation, and coordination of associate development initiatives and morale events, whether in-person or via WebEx/Zoom
• Maintain records of Mentor and Associate Advisor assignments

Attorney Orientation and Off-Boarding
• Coordinate with Recruiting and Professional Resources team on attorney and paralegal on-boarding
• Coordinate with Professional Resources team on initial orientation of new associates, laterals and paralegals
• Coordinate with Professional Resources team on the administration of off-boarding procedures

Other Responsibilities:
• Support Firm Diversity & Inclusion and Women’s Initiatives
• Work with attorneys to achieve the Firm’s pro bono goals and commitments
• Assist with innovation projects
• Stay apprised of developments in other practice groups, departments and across the firm
• General assistance on ad-hoc projects, as needed

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree, with 2+ years of experience at a top law firm or relevant institution
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Entrepreneurial, self- motivated, and organized
• Multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands on time and attention
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel). Experience with Adobe, viDesktop and Micron a plus
• Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00-$95,000.00, dependent on experience
