Business Development Manager-Litigation

Summary
Premier, global, law firm’s Business Development team has an opening for a Business Development Manager supporting the overall global business development and marketing efforts of the Firm’s Litigation Department practices including investigations and white collar, complex litigation, securities litigation and antitrust, along with additional focus areas and projects within the BDev Department and/or Firm as assigned. The role will report to the Business Development Senior Manager and may sit in their Washington, DC or New York office.
In this capacity, the Business Development Manager will:
- Develop strategic business development and marketing campaign plans including goals, action items, and deadlines, working closely with each practice group leadership. Advise and collaborate with partners, the Business Development, Marketing, and Communications team, as well as other internal stakeholders in the development and execution of these plans;
- Draft and prepare written proposals, pitches, and other communications to clients, prospective clients, and related third party organizations;
- Promote and assist with thought leadership campaigns and practice group content;
- Source and disseminate market intelligence to partners – related to the practice, industries and key clients;
- Collaborate with the global business development team on the identification and pursuit of cross-selling initiatives, including the development and growth of our key clients;
- Support lateral integration efforts;
- Help to manage the litigation practices, including internal group meetings, internal cross-selling initiatives, external presentations, client business development events, webinars, sponsorships, and roundtables, etc.;
- Track, organize and disseminate external and internal market and matter data in support of business development efforts;
- Help practice group leaders manage relevant business development budgets; and
- Collaborate with functional managers on relevant business development or marketing projects; and
- Travel as needed to support initiatives and participate in activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required) with an emphasis in marketing, law or business (preferred); Advanced degree (preferred);
- At least 5 years of experience in a corporate law firm setting;
- At least 7 years of marketing professional experience;
- Experience in supporting litigation groups previously (preferred);
- Advanced-level proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Project and document management systems;
- Knowledge of technologies, developments, trends and literature related to legal and professional services marketing fields;
- Expert proficiency in oral and written communications with strong editing, proofreading, grammar and research skills;
- Solid understanding of the needs and expectations of law firm operations and legal clients in order to function at a strategic level;
- Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, concepts and practical applications;
- Fundamental knowledge of networking and relationship management;
- Proficiency in team building and management and leadership skills; and
- Fundamental knowledge of legal concepts.
