Summary

The Business Development Manager – Restructuring will participate in the business development and marketing efforts of the Restructuring Department and other relevant practice groups and initiatives. This role will work closely with practice leaders, practice management counsel, the Senior Business Development Manager, as well as operational teams throughout the firm to develop and execute on key initiatives and business plan objectives.

Responsibilities

Marketing

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for executing all marketing deliverables, together with the Senior Business Development Manager, for primarily the Restructuring Department, as well as other practices and/or initiatives as required, including:

  • Prepare pitches, RFPs, deal lists, brochures and other marketing materials, including drafting original content as needed
  • Work alongside junior members of the team to help maintain and update standard marketing literature for the practice group on a regular basis
  • Work alongside junior members of the team to execute legal directory submissions, league table submissions, biography updates, matter management and other routine projects
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing various client events, as needed

Business Development

The Business Development Manager will also provide support to the Senior Business Development Manager in connection with the firm’s strategic planning and related initiatives, including:

  • Coordinating with analysis team with regards to lead generation processes
  • Providing support to execute strategic planning
  • Assisting in the maintenance of partner, practice, industry and client plans
  • Supporting cross-selling initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of business experience (2 years of restructuring legal marketing experience preferred)
  • A strong understanding of bankruptcy terminology, matter types and the marketing of these services to existing and prospective clients is an asset
  • Focused on execution and achieving measurable results through superior project and management skills
  • Excellent communication ability, including writing, editing and presentation skills
  • Understanding of the pressures of working in a corporate environment and demonstrated potential for working well with attorneys who have a wide range of business development goals and marketing skills. Manages stress well
  • Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously, including confidential matters
  • Ability to manage direct reports
  • Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Resourceful, driven attitude with a desire and energy to use a “whatever it takes” approach to ensure team success
  • Proficiency required with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as these tools are used daily. Ability to master new technology applications quickly
  • Overtime work is often required, including occasional weekends
