General Office Clerk III

Summary
Responsible for providing ad-hoc support to office and other staff members and departments as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides front desk / reception coverage on a back-up basis. Greets clients, vendors & visitors; answers and directs telephone calls to the appropriate person and/or department; takes messages, if necessary and distributes them through email or voicemail.
- Retrieve information when requested.
- Type documents, reports and correspondence.
- Update and maintain internal staff contact lists.
- Provides back-up support to administrative departments as needed.
- Provides onsite/offsite event support.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Makes intra-office deliveries and perform work related errands, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions

- Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and if often dependent on input from others. Occasional overtime may be required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds without assistance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One-year general office experience; law firm experience preferred; some typing; working knowledge of computers.
Special Knowledge: Legal office experience preferred; knowledge of specific practice group or administrative department a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficient use of a PC including knowledge of MS Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
Attributes: Good English grammar and communication skills; detail-oriented; ability to follow directions; good telephone etiquette; customer service; ability to follow through on projects; reliability; flexibility and the ability to prioritize new tasks as they come in; professional demeanor with ability to maintain good relations with all personnel; understanding of maintenance of confidentiality of attorney-client relationships.
Other Qualifications: Must score 25 wpm with 2% or less error rate on the firm’s legal typing test and 70% on the firm’s legal spelling test.
