Summary

The Lateral Recruiting Manager will manage proactive recruitment for lateral hiring in the Americas region, in one of the world’s leading law firms.

This role will deliver an effective and efficient recruitment service by partnering with the business to develop strategies and manage searches to meet the region’s strategic resource needs in order to deliver the highest standard of expertise to our clients. In particular, driving the sourcing strategy, building talent pipelines, designing of recruitment campaigns, reviewing and shortlisting of candidates, interviewing, management of offers and candidate feedback and evaluation of the recruitment process for lateral hires.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Lateral Partner Recruiting Manger, Americas and other Partner recruiters in the network while building excellent relationships with the leadership, regional management and sponsor Partners and senior lawyers across the business who are at the pinnacle of the legal market.
  • Working closely with hiring/sponsor Partners in the region developing short, medium and long-term plans to meet the firm’s strategic goals.
  • Providing recruitment business partnering to the Practice Areas and Business Professional functions, as well as providing best practice expertise to the wider global network.
  • Working closely with the wider HR function, HR Managers, and other teams across the business such as Partnership Selection, Partner Operations, Risk, Business Managers and Client & Market Development to ensure a seamless recruitment and onboarding experience and process for lateral hires where needed.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process and recruitment lifecycle for lateral attorneys for applicable internal client groups while delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Managing the whole recruitment lifecycle, proactively both planning and managing lateral attorney recruitment for the Americas region.
  • Establishing recruitment strategy for the Americas’ and ensuring it is aligned with the firm’s strategy for the region.
  • Regularly report and present to Partners, both at regional and strategic initiative level regarding recruitment plans, progress, feedback and themes.
  • Provide best practices guidance while coaching hiring Partners in the attraction, assessment, and candidate management process within an extremely competitive market.
  • Monitor efficiency and effectiveness of team’s process, making enhancements and improvements as needed.
  • Stay abreast of changes in all areas related to the legal industry, employment law, and recruitment.
  • Monitor and track recruitment metrics for lateral attorney recruitment, including but not limited to, tracking lateral submissions and spending, while reporting metrics to the team.
  • Manage third-party relationships with recruitment agencies and headhunters.
  • Provide day to day supervision of other members of the team including objective setting, task delegation, coaching, mentoring, appraisals and performance management.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive recruitment experience in a professional services organization. Law firm and lateral recruitment experience preferred.
  • Proven experience of handling sought after candidates in a highly competitive market ensuring a best-in-class candidate experience.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities and consistently deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of recruitment methodology and candidate engagement with the desire to challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to navigate a matrix organizational structure with a full understanding of a professional services environment.
  • Ability to exercise the utmost sense of confidentiality and sense of urgency.
  • Proven track record of building rapport and credibility with applicable internal client groups while delivering results to meet strategic objectives.
  • Strength of character, ethics, commitment, and reliability.
  • Must be resourceful and resilient.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
