Summary
The Recruiting Manager is responsible for directing the recruitment and hiring activities of Business Services Group (staff) members firm-wide, including but not limited to the following:
Requirements
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and hiring managers to identify needs when recruiting for staff in their respective practice areas/departments and develop a comprehensive staffing strategy and process.;
- Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and a comprehensive understanding of the essential skills and background to identify the most qualified candidates;
- Source candidates through developing and cultivating networks and mining professional social networking sites, specialized organizations, and job boards, with a focus on reducing recruiter fees and increasing cost-effectiveness;
- Build and maintain relationships with outside employment agencies; monitor and negotiate fees and other criteria (guarantees, etc.);
- Conduct the pre-screening, in depth interview assessment, testing and selection of applicants to identify the most qualified candidates to be presented for consideration, while considering the position and firm requirements;
- Provide guidance and handle ongoing communication with management throughout the recruiting life cycle;
- Act as primary contact for, and maintain relationships with, candidates through ongoing communication and status updates, while enhancing candidates’ opinion of the firm. Continually provide and exhibit a portrait of our culture, service and benefits;
- Negotiate offers of employment for all Business Services Group candidates, with input from hiring managers and other HR leaders;
- Handle various administrative responsibilities such as tracking job and candidate data for EEO compliance and other employment laws and regulations, as well as confirming origin of the source of the candidate; processing of recruiting-related invoices; coordinating background and reference screenings for all new employees;
- In conjunction with the BSG Mentor Program Committee, participate in the assignment of mentors to new employees, train new mentors, update mentoring materials, and monitor the process of the mentoring relationship;
- Stay informed of applicable laws, regulations, and trends in recruitment, as well as with firm policies, benefits and compensation;
- Analyze recruiting metrics in order to determine the success of current recruiting strategies and their cost-effectiveness;
- Explore market best practices in recruitment and implement appropriate best practices in the Recruiting Department;
- Manage the on-boarding process, orientation schedules and maintain constant communication through the employees’ first day;
- Provide testing for all candidates; Periodically check best practices, standards, and options for testing administrative candidates;
- Maintain and provide budget information for the Recruiting of BSG.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of recruitment experience in a law firm or professional services organization are required; prior experience in a supervisory role preferred.
- Must have thorough knowledge of employment laws and recruiting best practices.
- Must be adept in communicating sensitive information and maintaining complete confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong follow-through skills.
- Excellent analytical and judgment skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and client service skills.
- High degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy and ability to interact with senior levels of management.
- Demonstrated interest in continued learning and advancement.
- Strong team player but can act independently as required by the role.
* PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
