DEI Coordinator

Position Summary

Reporting to the firm’s Director of DEI, the DEI Coordinator will work closely with the DEI Partners, members of the firm’s Human Resources team, firm lawyers across all practice areas, various administrative departments, and external contacts including clients and DEI-partnership organizations, to assist in implementing and advancing the firm’s DEI strategy. This role will be responsible for proactively developing actionable project plans and collaborating with others to execute relevant programs, events, trainings, and other firm initiatives to foster an equitable, inclusive and diverse workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support DEI initiatives and execute relevant strategies that benefit both lawyers and staff;
  • Represent the DEI team as a member of the firm’s Staff Liaison Committee;
  • Proactively assist in the planning and implementation of all aspects of diversity-related and cultural heritage programs and events;
  • Work closely with the Director of DEI on the collection, analysis and benchmarking of diversity data, industry trends, and other related information, including the creation of quarterly reports;
  • Assist in tracking and reporting expenses related the DEI budget;
  • Develop strong working relationships and maintain frequent communication with external diversity-related partner organizations and internal stakeholders;
  • Assist in the implementation and operation of diversity-related partnerships, including providing logistical and organizational support for ongoing programs focused on the legal industry pipeline;
  • Coordinate with HR to compile and organize often confidential data for reporting to diversity related industry and client surveys;
  • Create and update DEI communications and collateral materials;
  • Coordinate activities and provide logistical support for the firm’s affinity-related resource groups;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices; and
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be team-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess the following characteristics:

  • Growing knowledge and genuine passion for learning about legal industry diversity, equity and inclusion issues;
  • Ability to engage effectively with all levels of seniority throughout the organization;
  • Very strong analytical, oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent ability to manage multiple projects, often with competing deadlines, and handle confidential information with a high level of discretion;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Forms;
  • Demonstrates a detail-oriented, proactive approach and strong client-service orientation in a fast moving work environment.

Requirements – Education and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • A minimum of 2 years closely related experience and/or project management experience at a law firm, government agency, or professional services organization required.
