Summary
Midsize global law firm is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to join their Marketing Department. This position will focus on assisting attorneys across all practice areas and office locations with business development activities. This position will report to the firm’s Business Development Manager and interact with all members of the firm’s Marketing team as well as firm attorneys and outside vendors and resources.
Responsibilities
- Prepare client communications, practice overviews, attorney bios, pitch and proposal content, and rankings submissions
- Support attorneys on the development and implementation of practice area, industry, office and market-driven business development initiatives
- Assist the Business Development Manager in supervising Business Development Assistant on rankings, pitch and proposal content and research assignments
- Assist the Business Development Manager in supervising Marketing Assistant with client relations program and identify ways to improve and expand it
- Populate and assist in the management of experience database, client lists and other database needs as necessary
- Monitor and report on trends and issues impacting clients and provide competitive analyses
- Develop strong working relationships with key partners in the practice areas and the other members of the Marketing & Business Development team
- Develop in-depth knowledge of and act as firm resource regarding: attorney expertise, practice group expertise, client base, firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, legal, industry and business trends, practice-specific marketing materials, and practice-specific media
- Interpret analyses of market trends, internal financial information, competitor information, and pitch activity as requested
- Available to respond to requests during hours outside of the workday
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university required
- Knowledge of the legal industry and 2-4 years prior experience in business development in a law firm
- Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail
- Familiarity with email marketing software (Interaction or other CRM experience a plus)
- Demonstrated competency with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Intellectually curious, motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability to work independently without direct guidance on recurring assigned tasks
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with little direction
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented, while still being able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Strong work ethic, highly reliable and dependable; flexible and able to work against deadlines; uses sound judgment
- Outstanding client service orientation and listening skills; comfortable and confident in interacting with firm leadership and attorneys
- Must be able to represent department and the firm in a professional and positive manner
