Professional Development Coordinator

Summary

The Professional Development Coordinator is a key member of the PD team. The position supports Firm’s cutting-edge associate development initiatives, notably internal advocacy and restructuring sites, and other learning initiatives for lawyers.  

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to and working closely with the Manager of Professional Development, the primary responsibilities include:
  • Supporting all aspects of the planning and execution of the firm’s Litigation and Financial Restructuring curricula (associate training), new associate orientation programming, and the firm’s continuing legal education (CLE) annual accredited provider re-certification.
  • In collaboration with Manager of Professional Development, working directly with external consultants to schedule training workshops and coaching opportunities.
  • Accrediting NY and CA CLE courses, maintains CLE course files, and updates and maintains the firm’s MCLE tracking system, viLMS.
  • Coordinating all aspects of training programs, including drafting invitations, attendance tracking, CLE accreditation, distributing materials, booking conference rooms, and arranging technical needs and catering.
  • Processing CLE credit for internal and client programs in our CLE tracking system.
  • Drafting and distributing Professional Development Monthly Update (department newsletter).
  • Providing administrative support for all aspects of annual first year associate orientation programming and events.
  • Planning logistics of training workshops, including hotel accommodation and social events, which involves liaising with internal departments and outside vendors.
  • Attending meetings such as associate focus groups, compiling and analyzing feedback, and recommending improvements as needed.
  • Maintaining accuracy and organization of online program files.
  • Managing learning subscriptions for e-learning platforms (PLI, West LegalEd).
  • As schedule permits, assisting with other major firm training programs i.e. planning summer associate training, including initiatives at Harvard and deal programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with continuing professional education in a professional services context.
  • Strongly preferred: 2-4 years’ experience working in a professional services environment.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Knowledge of CE Manager CLE or viDesktop tracking system a major plus.
  • NY and CA CLE experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with attorneys and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Positive, flexible attitude, and team player.
  • Flexible and available for overtime as needed.
