Responsibilities
- Support case teams as sole litigation case manager, or part of a larger team, during all stages of litigation from investigation through trial and appeal
- Actively participate in document collection and production, deposition preparation, hearings, and trials
- Conduct factual research
- Organize and maintain case files
- Utilize databases and eDiscovery solutions
- Assist in drafting motion papers, correspondence, and other documents
- Prepare and e-file documents with the court
- Attend trials and court hearings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing
- Enthusiastic and passionate about our commitment to civil rights and public interest law
- Flexible and energetic in a unique collaborative environment of a new and growing law firm
- Excellent communication skills, writing and editing skills, research ability, and attention to detail
- The initiative to problem-solve
- The ability to multitask and work well under pressure with unexpected and strict deadlines
- The flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
- Strong computer skills, and the ability to learn new and innovative tools and solutions
- Prior law firm litigation paralegal experience preferred but not required
- Based in either the New York or Washington DC area or willing to relocate
