Supervisor: Assistant Managing Attorney
Summary
The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and other case team members on the firm’s cases to deliver best in class services to clients. This position requires significant experience with complex US civil litigation, including the organization of documents and evidence, case filings, preparation for depositions, court hearings and trial, and working with e-discovery and case management software.
Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive support to attorneys and case teams, from the pre-suit investigation through trial by managing various litigation tasks.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys, legal analysts, litigation assistants and other support staff professionals to ensure seamless communication and meet all case-related deadlines.
• Take ownership of assignments, manage timelines, and ensure that all deadlines are met. Identify the need for additional resources and time and consult attorneys on case budgets when necessary. Develop and establish protocols, procedures and work product templates to ensure that cases are efficiently managed and organized.
• Establish and oversee the infrastructure and organization of all case files, facilitating drafting of motions, expert reports, depositions and trial preparation.
• Coordinate and oversee all aspects of discovery, including the organization, management, collection and production of electronic discovery.
• Oversee, coordinate, and take ownership of all pre-trial and trial assignments, such as creating workflows, deposition designations, witness and exhibit selection, maintaining virtual war rooms and assisting with witness and cross-examination processes.
• Manage substantive disposition motion practice, including drafting and assisting with summary judgement and dismissal motions.
• Attend and support court proceeding, including oral arguments on motions, arbitrations and trials.
• Prepare and oversee court e-filing and related court submissions at both State and Federal levels, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules and procedures.
• Interact and negotiate with litigation vendors and court personnel, managing relationships and ensuring seamless collaboration.
Requirements
• A minimum of 6-10 years of substantial litigation paralegal experience with a strong focus on pre-trial discovery, motion practice and court proceedings gained from a litigation firm.
• A strong preference for candidates with trial preparation and support experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of civil litigation in Federal and State Courts, legal procedures, terminology and court rules.
• Proficiency with legal software such as Relativity, CaseMap Suite and Trial Director is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive approach in anticipating and addressing business needs, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
• Excellent organization, prioritization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
• Demonstration of a strong work ethic and self-motivation, with a desire to take initiative and be hands on.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality when interacting with all levels.
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze and present significant amounts of information effectively.
• Highly adaptable, ability to thrive in fluid and ever-changing work environments.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Willingness to travel when required.
At the time of posting, the salary range for this role is $120,000.00-$165,000.00, plus bonus. This range is based on a full-time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate’s actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills, and market data.
