Summary
Our client seeks a Junior HR Generalist to join our Human Resources (“HR”) department. They will be responsible for executing and supporting various areas of HR including benefits administration, recruitment, data and systems administration, compliance, metrics, employee experience, and other projects as assigned. The Junior HR Generalist will report to the HR Manager and work collaboratively with other firm management positions including but not limited to administrative department heads, the CFO/COO, Managing Partners, and the Partner overseeing employment matters.
Responsibilities
- Act as daily point of contact for employees’ general inquiries by being familiar with all firm HR policies and procedures and advising accordingly
- Manage day to day employee benefits including advising on firm benefits during new hire orientation, open enrollment, and other qualifying life events
- Work with the HR Manager on all data and system maintenance inclusive of HRIS, metrics, reporting, personnel files, and benefits carrier portals
- Own all aspects of new hire onboarding
- Manage staff recruitment process from job posting through reference checks
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations and firm policies including rollout and tracking of mandatory trainings, policies, and procedures
- Work with the HR Manager on annual performance review process (staff and attorneys)
- Act as back up to the HR Manager for payroll processing, working closely with the Director of Finance
- Maintain HR folder and data in FIRM’s document management system
- Participate in planning employee engagement initiatives including D&I Committee events
- Maintain all HR SOP and reference materials
- Maintain firm NY Floor Plan and firm-wide Phone List
- Other projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-4 years’ experience working in an HR role, preferably at a law firm
- Experience with domestic and international employees with presence in London and Paris
- Benefit administration, recruiting, HRIS, and payroll experience; ADP experience desired
- Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, both oral and written
- Collaboratively work on multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality and discretion
- Proficiency in Excel and a willingness to learn new technical systems
- Resourceful, creative, dependable, proactive, can-do attitude
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
Compensation
This position is based in our client’s New York office with a current hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office, 2 days working remotely per week. This is a nonexempt position with a typical shift being 9:30am – 5:30pm with occasional overtime. The expected salary range is $65,000 – $80,000 depending on experience.
