Trusts & Estates Paralegal

Summary
This role assists attorneys with assignments involving complex paralegal duties requiring initiative, skill, and specialized legal knowledge. Such complex work requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Administer estates and trusts;
- Prepare federal and state estate tax returns;
- Prepare fiduciary accountings and income tax returns;
- Generally assist lawyers in estate planning and administration;
- Management of all aspects of trust accounts;
- Preparation of:
- Probate papers;
- Federal and state estate and inheritance tax returns;
- Federal gift tax returns;
- Fiduciary accountings;
- Federal and state fiduciary income tax returns.
- Extensive client contact;
- Calendar and monitor key dates and deadlines.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in complex estate planning and administration;
- Proficiency with fiduciary accounting including expertise in preparing estate, gift and fiduciary income tax returns;
- Paralegal certification from an ABA approved program and current employment with a law firm or accounting firm is preferred;
- This is an opportunity to assist with sophisticated planning for high and very-high net worth clients in a large and growing trusts and estates department
- The successful candidate is a self-starter and is able to work independently. Excellent communication skills are a must since extensive client interaction is integral to this job. This position requires careful attention to detail and superior interpersonal skills.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $110,000, nonexempt.
