Summary
The Senior Business Development Analyst, in collaboration with the Business Development Manager, will be responsible for executing all deliverables related to the Restructuring Department’s distressed company tracking initiative.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance of various existing and new prospecting trackers and tools
- Create and maintain active coverage list and regularly report on opportunities
- Coordinate directly with partners and other lawyers to establish, update and monitor news alerts on various clients and prospects through available firm resources
- Take a proactive approach in the collection of competitive data, market and company research and industry trends
- Analyze and leverage internal and external data to identify potential business opportunities
- Identify, analyze and synthesize information from various sources in a clear, concise manner, including the preparation of templatized distressed company reports
- Work with the firm’s Competitive Intelligence team, as needed, to coordinate in-depth research on a range of companies, industries and trends on behalf of BD and the firm’s attorneys
- Develop strong familiarity with internal systems to compliment external research
- Collaborate with members of BD to obtain an understanding of the firm’s practice areas and departments, matters, competitors and other factors that could influence the direction of research efforts
- Obtain high degree of understanding of select partners, clients and prospects in order to be able to proactively identify and advance actionable information to BD colleagues and attorneys
- Provide support to the BD team and practice management counsel, as needed, by assisting in the preparation of substantive analysis as it relates to pitch materials and other strategic planning efforts
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of 5 years of business experience (2 years of restructuring legal marketing experience preferred)
- A strong understanding of bankruptcy terminology, matter types and the marketing of these services to existing and prospective clients is an asset
- Focused on execution and achieving measurable results through superior project management skills
- Excellent communication ability, including writing, editing and presentation skills
- Understanding of the pressures of working in a corporate environment and demonstrated potential for working well with attorneys who have a wide range of business development goals and marketing skills. Manages stress well
- Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously, including confidential matters
- Excellent research skills and critical thinking ability
- Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent inter-personal skills; ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Resourceful, driven attitude with a desire and energy to use a “whatever it takes” approach to ensure team success
- Strong knowledge and understanding of external databases such as Bloomberg, Reorg, Debtwire, CapIQ and other available research tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as these tools are used daily. Ability to master new technology applications quickly
- Overtime work is often required, including occasional weekends, as needed
This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance in accordance with the schedule set forth by the department. A hybrid schedule is an essential function of this role.
Compensation
$140,000 – $160,000. The Firm offers competitive compensation and benefits packages. The firm considers a number of factors when determining compensation, including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, levels of experience, competency levels and other relevant skills and qualifications.
