The Manager of Learning & Development will be a key member of the Firm’s Global Professional Development team. Reporting to the Director of Learning & Professional Development, the position will serve as departmental point person on all aspects of the management and execution of the firm’s Harvard program. In collaboration with the global PD and HR teams, the position will also have primary oversight of our business services L&D offering. The position will serve as a global point-person on mentoring programs, and directly manage our U.S. first-year associate mentoring program.

Bring your experience developing, facilitating and executing L&D programs to this highly visible role, in which you will collaborate closely with partners, firm leaders, world-renowned university executive education professionals, and leading independent learning consultants to create and manage market-leading learning experiences.


Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Learning & Professional Development and other colleagues, the Manager of Learning & Development’s responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as point person on the Firm’s Harvard program, including managing all aspects of the curriculum’s planning and execution. Manage budgeting, global nominations process, curriculum development, and physical execution of approximately five week-long programs annually. Share responsibility with other senior PD team members for attending the Firm’s Harvard specific programs in Cambridge, Massachusetts to serve as program MC and host. Collaborate closely with university executive education team and external coaches and consultants on all aspects of programs and follow-up development opportunities.
    Oversee the development and execution of learning and development programs and resources that form their global Business Services learning offering including business skills programs for all global business services professionals and for colleagues in leadership and management roles.
  • Acting as a global point person for Firm mentoring programs, including by maintaining guidance, and advising, on best practices and firm policies for mentoring in the legal sector. Direct responsibility for implementation of U.S. first-year mentoring program, which includes partner mentoring and associate buddy program for our annual first-year associate class of approximately 70-90 associates.
  • Develop and manage external learning and coaching vendor relationships, including managing presentation preparation, program physical and technical logistics, and contracts and invoices.
    Facilitate internal focus groups, compile and analyze feedback, and recommend curriculum and program delivery innovations. Manage and create communications to promote the usage of subscriptions to e-learning platforms. Advise business services department heads on deployment of e-learning resources to promote their talent objectives and develop their people.
    Manage and develop Learning & PD Coordinator.
    Supervise Learning & PD Coordinator in creating and deploying internal communications including intranet site, update emails and internal calendars webpages for all programs under management.
    Serve as the firm’s subject matter expert on programs under management (particularly the Firm’s Harvard offering) and work with and advise BD and PR teams on external promotion of these programs.


  • At least five years’ legal professional development experience, or a combination of five years’ legal PD and law practice experience. Consideration will also be given to candidate with at least seven years’ professional services firm L&D or university executive education experience.
    Strong presentation skills, relationship-building skills, and a high level of diplomacy.
    Strong project management skills are absolutely crucial for this role, as is a willingness to oversee event planning and execution incidental to learning program delivery.
    Executive or career coaching, or counselling experience, and L&D program facilitation skills, a major plus.
    Strong technology skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required. Knowledge of viLMS a plus.
    Availability to work overtime as needed and willingness to travel to Harvard University for several days, up to five times a year (all reasonable expenses paid).

  • Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. a plus but not required.
  • Professional coaching or counselling training a major plus.

Salary: $140,000.00-$155,000.00, dependent on experience
