Sidley Austin Snags 11 Lawyers From Bingham McCutchen
April 3, 2013Chicago-based law firm Sidley Austin said on Tuesday that it had snagged eleven lawyers from the securities enforcement practice of Boston-based law firm Bingham McCutchen.
The departing partners, who include Neal Sullivan, the head of the Bingham practice group and Susan Merrill, the head of the New York securities practice and former head of enforcement for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, formally resigned from the firm on Monday, a Bingham spokeswoman said.
Ten of the lawyers join Sidley as partners while one joins as of counsel, Sidley said. They will work out of multiple offices including Washington and New York, according to Sidley.
The news, which was first reported by the New York Times, strips Bingham’s securities enforcement practice of its primary leaders and leaves the group with roughly 20 partners.
